EMR to deploy telemetry and control system for Kildare County Council

Meath County Council looks to EMR to monitor water networks

EMR Integrated Solutions today announced a €250,000 contract win with Meath County Council to provide real-time monitoring of the county’s wastewater facilities. The primary objective of the project is to improve operational efficiency and reduce response times to plant failures.

The initial system comprises a web-connected SCADA server linked via high power radio to the thirty main wastewater collection and treatment assets.

Commenting on the project, Fergus Duffy of Meath County Council said:

“EMR have demonstrated a comprehensive knowledge of the requirements of our application and have delivered a feature rich radio-based SCADA solution. The system has greatly improved our ability to see what’s happening on our network and respond to incidents. The information gathered by the system has proven invaluable in reducing response times to incidents.”

To achieve the council’s objectives for the project, EMR installed a comprehensive UHF radio network and Motorola ACE3600 RTUs monitoring the performance of all key plants from a central web accessible SCADA server. Following initial deployment the network was extended to cover the water treatment and distribution assets and now includes over 100 sites operating over UHF radio.

In addition the system linked via GSM with over 200 metering points where flows and water quality data is collected at regular intervals across the entire distribution network. The system provides a comprehensive platform for the monitoring, control, reporting and analysis of all aspects of network performance.

Meath County Council administers a local authority area of over 2,342 km2 with a population of over 170,000 in the north east of Ireland. With a major growth in population, the need for efficient management of the water infrastructure is critical.

EMR Integrated Solutions was today awarded contracts by Coffey Water for the supply and implementation of SCADA and telemetry systems on two major projects in Kilmallock, Co Limerick and Oldcastle, Co. Meath.

Wexford County Council awards SCADA network project to EMR

Leading communications and SCADA network supplier, EMR Integrated Solutions today announced a €750,000 contract to provide a SCADA system to Wexford County Council. The initial system will comprise a web-connected SCADA server linked via high power radio to the forty main water treatment and distribution assets including abstraction points, treatment plants, pumping stations and reservoirs.

In addition the system will be linked via SMS with over 300 metering points across the entire distribution network. The system provides a comprehensive platform for the monitoring, control reporting and analysis of all aspects of network performance including water quality, flow rates, storage capacity, plant faults and maintenance issues. Within weeks of installation the operators and caretakers have seen the benefits.

The web connected SCADA server provides plant caretakers with a real-time view of the status of their plant from any web-connected PC. Now caretakers can perform out of-hour’s checks without having to attend site.

EMR Integrated Solutions today announced a contract with Kildare County Council for its River Barrow Abstraction Pipeline.

EMR secures major water conservation project with Kilkenny County Council

Leading SCADA and instrumentation provider, EMR Integrated Solutions today announced it has secured a €150,000 contract with Kilkenny County Council’s water services division, to implement a major water conservation data collection and analysis network system.

The initial system comprises a SCADA server linked via SMS to over 140 main water flowmeters and SMS Data Loggers.  The system serves as a comprehensive platform for the monitoring, control reporting and analysis of all aspects of the DMA networks.

Alarms relating to abnormal flow conditions are sent by SMS text message directly to the mobile phones of designated staff, and response times have improved significantly. From a management perspective the benefits of the system have been enormous. Automatic report generation has significantly reduced the effort involved in complying with EU reporting obligations.

Kilkenny County Council administers a local authority area of over 796 sq miles with a population of over 95,000. A major area of activity for Kilkenny County Council is the provision of water and waste water services and this is achieved using a range of treatment plants, reservoirs, pumping stations and an extensive pipeline network.

With the integration of data from the SMS data loggers on the distribution network management now have an holistic view of their water network from the moment water is abstracted from the river or ground water source right the way through to the consumers. This integrated view has facilitated reductions in waste, improved reliability and quality and reduced the cost of service delivery.
